Vote NO on H.Con.Res 14 Budget Resolution. The Congressional Budget Office reports that those people in the 10% or below income bracket will see a significant reduction in their annual financial resources and those in the top 10% income bracket will see a significant increase in their financial resources. House passes tax cuts.
No vouchers for private schools, charter schools and homeschooling.
No budget increases for the Defense Department or Immigration and Custom Enforcement (ICE).
No sale of public lands for development, fossil fuel or mining, nor for the timber industry.
No limits on the power of the federal courts to issue temporary restraining orders and injunctions against executive actions the court deems are unlawful or unconstitutional.
No elimination of tax credits for low carbon electricity.
Although Republicans claim the Resolution cuts federal spending, it allows the government to borrow about $4 trillion to avoid the government defaulting.
Oppose Health and Human Services eliminating the recommendations for Covid vaccinations for pregnant women and children. RFK Jr. says COVID shots no longer recommended for kids, pregnant women AND speak out against HHS cancellation of Modena contract to fight pandemic flu viruses
Oppose the nomination of Emil Bove, one of Trump’s personal lawyers, to a lifetime appointment to the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. Oppose ALL Trump nominees, including the lesser known ones.
Demand explanations from Trump and Trump family businesses which are profiting from the presidency, including: Bezos, owner of Amazon, paying Melania Trump $28 million for a movie about her. Oppose pardoning two men convicted in 2020 in Michigan of conspiracy to kidnap Governor Gretchen Whitmer. The DOJ pardon attorney says the defendants are victims.
Oppose Trump’s military parade on June 14, 2025. The parade will include 6700 soldiers, 28 M1A! Abrams tanks which weigh 70 tons each, 28 Stryker armored personnel carriers, a World War II era B-25 bomber, 50 helicopters, 34 horses, two mules and a dog. Oppose Trump’s pardons of defendants who have provided him with financial support
Demand the return of immigrants who have been deported to other countries without due process.

Speak out against Trump’s manipulation of the stock market by his on again, off again tariff threats. His threat to impose a 50% tariff on European Union goods caused a significant drop in the S&P 500 and when he postponed the tariff the market significantly rose.

Support U.S. District Judge Brian E. Murphy’s order to provide due process or return to the United States to immigration detainees now being held in Djibouti and ordered by the Trump administration to be sent to South Sudan.

Thursday, June 5 at 7:00 pm. Sign Making Social. Fountain Street Church, 24 Fountain St NE. Come join us as we make protest signs around the "NO KINGS" theme. Bring your favorite beverage and a snack to share. We will supply the cardboard signs, some suggestions for wording, and some paints. Feel free to bring some of your favorite art supplies! Ideas for signs can be found in this article.

Wednesday, June 18 from 7:00 - 8:00 pm. "State of Civil Rights and What You Can Do to Protect Them," Fountain Street Church Chapel, 24 Fountain Street SE. Lily Eggers from the ACLU will present an overview of the status of legislation, executive orders and current lawsuits and how they affect our civil rights and civil liberties. Get a better understanding of these rights and freedoms at this moment and learn what you can do to protect them.
Lily Eggers is an Organizing Strategist for Southwest Michigan at the ACLU of Michigan. Lily joined the ACLU of Michigan in October of 2022 as an organizer, contributing to the passing of Proposal 3- 2022 (Reproductive Freedom for All) to secure access to reproductive rights in Michigan. From 2023-2024, she worked on a voting rights and democracy project to ensure Michiganders knew about their newly won voting rights and worked with election officials to implement new policies and ensure folks had access to the ballot. In her current role as an Organizing Strategist, Lily works with people in their own communities to educate and organize in pursuit of civil rights and civil liberties protections.

Saturday, June 21 at 10 am to 12 pm. No GEO MI Protest. Webber Township Community Park on M-37 north of Baldwin. The purpose of this protest is to raise public awareness of the horrendous human rights violations and ugly business of immigrant detention by GEO. GEO is an 1800 bed for-profit immigrant detention center that will open on July 14, to incarcerate the victims of Trump's ICE arrests. Organized by the Manistee County Democratic Party, in partnership with the other CD2 Democratic parties and a coalition of groups.
