From efforts to dismantle the Department of Education to rollbacks in Medicaid, the Affordable Care Act, SNAP, and disability protections; from the withholding of billions in funding for afterschool and mental health programs to national voucher schemes like the Educational Choice for Children Act (ECCA) which shifts funds from public schools to private profit; our public schools are under attack. This is not just a policy shift. It is a full-scale assault on the idea that every child—no matter their zip code, race, language, ability, or identity—deserves a high-quality public education.
