Top 5 Things YOU Can Do This Week
As usual, there’s lots to call about, choose what interests you most or use the Five Calls App. And pace yourself! You don’t need to do all the things in one day -- make a few calls each day, participate in one or two protests a week that speak to you, do whatever you can. We fight for democracy one action at a time.
Call Senators Peters 202.224.6221 and Slotkin 202.224.4822 (see Resources for You for more contact info)
Thank you for voting NO to advance the nomination of Emil Bove, who should not be given a lifetime judicial appointment. Vote NO on confirming him.
Support S.3494 (Ban Congressional Stock Trading) to ban people in both congressional houses and their families from trading in the stock market, thereby eliminating their ability to use insider information from the legislative process.
Oppose Rep. Barry Loudermilk’s select subcommittee intended to investigate the January 6 Committee that investigated Trump’s role in the January 6 insurrection. Rep. Loudermilk told CNN that the subcommittee is a result of Trump’s request.
Oppose the Environmental Protection Agency’s plan to repeal the scientific findings that greenhouse gas emissions are a threat to human life. E.P.A. Is Said to Draft a Plan to End Its Ability to Fight Climate Change.
Oppose the removal of signs in National Parks and Monuments that are deemed by the Department of Interior to be critical of the United States pursuant to Executive Order 14253, “Restoring Truth and Sanity to American History.” Examples include signs at Cape Hatteras that say sea levels are rising because of climate change and signs at Castillo De San Marcos National Monument that tell about the history of imprisonment of indigenous people at the Monument.
Demand that the tax credits for Affordable Care Act insurance be renewed.
Stand up to the Administration’s policy of mass deportations and masked abductions by ICE agents. Giant bugs, heat and a hospital visit: Inside Alligator Alcatraz’s first days. And call those detention centers what they are: concentration camps.
Oppose and obstruct all of Trump nominees and all legislation proposed by the GOP.
Call Representative Scholten, 202.225.3831 or Moolenaar 202.225.3561
Very disappointed by your voted YES on the GENIUS Act which is in effect approval for the crypto industry, specifically stablecoins. The GENIUS Act was introduced and supported by Republicans and Trump supported it too. Shouldn’t that have been enough for you to oppose it? 5 Things to Know as the GENIUS Act Becomes Law
Express outrage that House Speaker Johnson is shutting down the House to avoid a vote to release the Epstein files.
Support HR 3779, the Stock Act 2.0, which would ban congressional members and their families from trading on the stock market, eliminating their use of insider information they have access to in the legislative process.
Oppose Rep. Barry Loudermilk’s select subcommittee intended to investigate the January 6 Committee that investigated Trump’s role in the January 6 insurrection. Rep. Loudermilk told CNN that the subcommittee is a result of Trump’s request.

Vote No on HR 3898, the Permit Act, which makes it easier for potential polluters to get permits for projects that have potential to pollute waterways. It removes small streams, wetlands and seasonal waterways from any review regarding the potential for pollution. It would limit the EPA’s ability to update pollution standards. It narrows the authority of states and tribes to monitor and control pollution. It is opposed by Clean Water Action and the League of Conservation Voters.
Oppose mass deportations and masked abductions by ICE agents. Giant bugs, heat and a hospital visit: Inside Alligator Alcatraz’s first days. And call those detention centers what they are: concentration camps.
Demand that the tax credits for Affordable Care Act insurance be renewed.
Join Indivisible’s One Million Rising initiative. From Indivisible National: The key to stopping any momentum toward authoritarianism isn’t to attack the would-be ruler at the top, but to chip away at the vital institutions and communities that uphold their power, causing the entire house of cards to come tumbling down. This is how we fight back against Trump’s authoritarian takeover -- by identifying our influence with the pillars of support his regime depends upon and convincing them to participate in strategic non-cooperation.
This is the critical moment to build the opposition we need to fight back. It is vital that we recruit, train, and mobilize a critical mass of people now before Trump’s authoritarian regime has fully consolidated power. And that’s what we need you to do.
We are asking you to host a Community Resistance Gathering -- a meeting of a small group of people, who have some relationship to each other, who come together to build their connection, knowledge, and resilience against fighting authoritarianism. Event Host Toolkit.
Watch the first One Million Rising Workshop. Sign up for the second one (“How to Make it Happen”) on Wednesday, July 30 at 8 pm
Participate in Indivisible’s Solidarity in Action initiative. More information here. If nothing else, you should definitely watch the recording of “Messaging for Solidarity - Race Class Narrative, Anat Shenker-Osorio” for great ideas about how to more effectively get your message across (and stop promoting the other team’s).
Call Michigan State Representatives, State Senators, and State Attorney General
Ask your State Representative and Senator (find contact info here) to authorize greater state contributions to the medicaid funds to protect rural hospitals, which depend on Medicaid for reimbursement. Eighteen rural Michigan counties have 40% of their populations dependent on Medicaid. Thirteen rural hospitals dependent on Medicaid funding are likely to close this year. Trump Gets His Big Beautiful Bill: What It Means To Michigan
Thank Attorney General Dana Nessel (517.335.7622 or email miag@michigan.gov) for filing an amici brief in support of lawsuits filed against the U.S. EPA arguing that the EPA cannot withhold funding authorized by Congress in the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act that would have funded establishing Climate Resilience Hubs that would provide appropriate temperature centers in extreme weather, and food, water and medical supplies in emergencies. Future of climate ‘resilience hubs’ uncertain after Trump cuts
Ask the Attorney General to consider bringing charges against Ted Nugent for carrying a concealed weapon into the Capitol when testifying against the Department of Natural Resources. Game regulators blast Ted Nugent for ‘insulting’ Capitol testimony

Can you please help us by volunteering at least an hour a week? Can you donate so we can pay for venues, sound equipment, water, etc?
WE NEED YOU!
